NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)

About NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC):

NCC unit of our college is a part of 9 MAH. BN. NCC SOLAPUR, Maharashtra Directorate. NCC parades of our college are held on every Sunday (7:30 AM to 11:30 PM) from July to January each year. Besides parades, cadets also participate in various camps held at State, National and International level. These include Thal Sainik Camp, Army Attachment Camp, National Integration Camp, Annual Training Camp etc. Cadets are also motivated to participate in Republic Day Parade at New Delhi. Lt. Kiran Chapte has been looking after the NCC unit since 2020.

HISTORY OF NCC

National Cadet Corps (NCC) was raised with an aim of grooming both the boys and the girls of our country, nurture them and direct their energy towards nation building by making them responsible citizens

July 1948: After independence, today’s largest organization NCC formally came into existence on15 July 1948 through XXXI Act of Parliament.

July 1949: The Girls Division of the NCC was raised in July 1949.

April 1950: On 01 April 1950, Air Wing was raised, with one Air squadron each at Bombay and Kolkata.

July 1952: The Naval Wing of the NCC was raised in July 1952.

The NCC is a responsive, learning and continuously evolving organization. Its activity is guided by certain core values that we endeavour to instill among all ranks of the NCC. These include the following:

A sense of patriotic commitment to encourage cadets to contribute to national development.

Respect for diversities in religion, language, culture, ethnicity, life style and habitat to instill a sense of National unity and social cohesion.

Abiding commitment to learn and adhere to the norms and values enshrined in the Indian Understanding the value of a just and impartial exercise of authority.

Ability to participate in community development and other social programme. .

A healthy life style free of substance abuse and other unhealthy practices.

Sensitivity to the needs of poor and socially disadvantaged fellow citizens.

Inculcating habits of restraint and self-awareness.

Understanding the values of honesty, truthfulness, self-sacrifice, perseverance and hard work Respect for knowledge, wisdom and the power of ideas.

TRAINING

Based on the aims of NCC, the organization has laid down training syllabi for the cadets. The syllabi for the Senior Division cadets cover a period of three years.
First year NCC cadets are given only institutional training which covers Foot Drill, Arms Drill, Weapon Training, Map Reading, Field Craft, Battle Craft, Self-Defense, Leadership, First Aid, Civil-Defense, Aid to Civil Authorities and Community Development, Hygiene Sanitation and Adventure Activities etc.
Second year cadets can appear for “B” certificate examination after the completion of two years’ training successfully with more than 70 % attendance and participation in at least one centrally organized Camp. “B”
Certificate Examination is conducted centrally by the Battalion at Solapur. Criteria for passing “B” certificate Examination are minimum 50% of marks in theory and practical separately.
Third year cadets can appear for “C” Certificate Examination after the completion of three years of training with more than 70% attendance and one more annual training camp after passing “B” certificate Examination.

INCENTIVES TO NCC CADETS

Direct commission for ‘C’ certificate holders through Service Selection Board

Preference is given in state & Central Govt. Services, Police, BSF, Coast Guard, etc.

Seats reserved for NCC Cadets for admissions in Engineering Poly techniques and Medical Colleges

Opportunity to participate in international youth Exchange Programmes held in various

Bonus Marks in the University Examination

Exemption in written test for military recruitment

Chief Minister’s Scholarship

Maharashtra Government’s Scholarship

DG, NCC Scholarship

CADET WELFARE SOCIETY:

The NCC Cadets Welfare Society which was established in 1985 is functioning at HQ DGNCC, New Delhi It is mandatory for anyone joining NCC as a cadet to become a member of this Society by paying Rs. 15/- (one time) at the time of enrollment.

The Society provides following benefits :-
Financial assistance/relief: -

In case of a death during normal NCC activity, the nominee is provided a financial assistance of Rs. 4,50,000/- and in case of death in high risk activity Rs. 5 lacs.

It also takes care of treatment if injury takes place during any NCC activity.

Scholarships: -

It provides yearly 1000 scholarships of Rs. 6000/- each (one time) based on academic performance.

Out of total 1000 vacancies, minimum ¼ ie 250 scholarships are given to cadets coming from rural/disturbed areas.

Best Cadet Awards:-

Based on the performance of a cadet in NCC, there are Best and 2 nd Best Cadet awards constituted at the Group HQ level.

The Best cadet is given an award of Rs. 3,500/- and 2 nd Best Rs. 2,500/-.
